Else Kröner-Fresenius Award 2013 & 2017 – Focus on Future Research.
“How does one convey the relevance and creativity of the complex research approach of Yale Professor of Immunobiology, Ruslan Medzhitov, HHMI, to a diverse audience?”
Yale Professor of Immunobiology, Ruslan Medzhitov, HHMI, receives the Else Kröner Fresenius Award, endowed with 4 million euros, from Federal Research Minister Johanna Wanka on June 5, 2013, in Berlin.
The award winner’s work has significantly contributed to the understanding of the interaction between the innate immune system, which represents the first, immediate defense against infections, and the acquired immune system.
With this first-time presentation, which honors the 25th anniversary of the founder’s death, the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation announces the establishment of a medical research prize to be awarded every four years.
The award ceremony addresses the complex communicative challenge with a varied and engaging presentation based on an exhibition, short speeches, film content, and dialogues.
